I’m Md. Ashraful Islam, a Software Engineer
I am a Computer Science and Engineering graduate based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I build web applications, REST APIs, and backend systems, with a strong focus on Python, Django, FastAPI, and Django REST Framework.
I have been working toward becoming a better software engineer by building real projects, solving algorithmic problems, and learning how production applications are designed and deployed.

What I am working on now
I am currently working as a Full Stack Developer Intern at SoftZen IT, where I am gaining practical experience working on real-world software projects.
My work and learning are centered around backend development, REST APIs, databases, authentication, frontend integration, and the overall process of turning an idea into a working application.
Alongside my internship, I continue to build personal projects to strengthen my engineering skills and understand different parts of the modern web development stack.
What I build with
Most of my backend work is built with Python, especially Django, Django REST Framework, and FastAPI.
For frontend development, I work with HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, and ReactJS. I also use JavaScript alongside my backend work when building full-stack applications.
For data storage, I have experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including designing relational database models and connecting them with backend applications.
I also work with Git, GitHub, Linux, and Docker as part of my development workflow.
At the foundation, I focus heavily on Data Structures and Algorithms and Object-Oriented Programming. I have solved more than 1,000 algorithmic problems across Codeforces, LeetCode, and CodeChef.
Things I have built
Dokanly — RESTful E-Commerce Platform
One of my main projects is Dokanly, a RESTful e-commerce platform built with Django, Django REST Framework, React, and PostgreSQL.
The platform is API-first and includes product management, shopping carts, orders, customer workflows, JWT authentication, role-based access control, and OpenAPI documentation. I also designed the PostgreSQL models and integrated the backend with React.
Vangari Mama — Recycling Marketplace
I also built Vangari Mama, a recycling marketplace that connects people selling recyclable materials with local scrap collectors.
The project includes separate role-based workflows, dashboards, a bidding system, Google OAuth authentication, automated order processing, and an 8% platform commission system backed by PostgreSQL.
TikTok Clone — Social Video Platform
Another project I built is a TikTok Clone, a full-stack social video platform using Django, WebSockets, PostgreSQL, and Tailwind CSS.
It includes video and image posting, personalized feeds, likes, comments, following, real-time direct messaging, and live notifications. I used Django Channels and Redis for the real-time features and Cloudinary for media storage, with the application deployed on Render.
Beyond projects
I believe programming is not only about writing code. A large part of becoming a good engineer is learning how to think, break down problems, design systems, and keep improving.
That is one reason I spend a significant amount of time solving algorithmic problems. I have also achieved 2nd place in an Inter-University Programming Contest (IUPC).
My academic background is in Computer Science and Engineering at Northern University Bangladesh, where I am completing my B.Sc. in CSE.
I have also completed certifications covering Python, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, which reflect my interest in expanding beyond traditional web development.
Working together
I enjoy building practical software, especially applications that combine strong backend systems with clean and usable interfaces.
My experience so far has given me exposure to REST API development, authentication, relational databases, real-time communication, frontend integration, and deployment.
I am currently continuing that journey through my internship at SoftZen IT, while building and learning independently alongside it.
You can find my work on GitHub and connect with me on LinkedIn. I also keep building projects that help me turn what I learn into something real.
